Each EU citizen produces an average of over 4.5 tons of waste per year, of which almost half is disposed of in landfills.

The transition from a linear economy to a circular economy shifts the focus on reusing, adjusting, renovating and recycling existing materials and products.

A primary goal to achieve is to recycle properly; this means both recovering valuable material for future use and reducing the amount of waste that will end up in landfills or in an incinerator. By reducing the amount of residual waste produced, we will also decrease greenhouse gas emissions deriving from their management (transport, disposal in landfills or combustion in incinerators).

Another objective to be pursued is to correctly carry out separate waste collection, optimizing the procedures already in place; a correct differentiation of waste will allow us to achieve the following sustainable development objectives: 7_ Clean and accessible energy; 11_Sustainable cities and communities; 12_ Responsible consumption and production; 13_Fight against climate change.
