Social sustainability
Social sustainability means being able to guarantee access to social, environmental and economic development and progress for all members of the community, eliminating inequalities between individuals in a community and guaranteeing access to future generations.
The University therefore assumes a central role in the realization of social sustainability. On the one hand, as a place of education, it has to guarantee the possibility for all deserving individuals to obtain the appropriate knowledge and skills for individual and social development. On the other hand, as a place of research, it has to propose innovative and concrete solutions to the obstacles that prevent the full realization of social sustainability. Finally, it has to raise public awareness and citizenship about the importance of social sustainability as a priority objective of political action.
These proposals are reflected in the following 2030 sustainable development gaols relating to social sustainability: 4_Quality education; 5_Gender equality; 10_Reduce inequalities.
