ITA – Norma Anglani si è laureata con lode e ha conseguito il Dottorato di ricerca in Ingegneria Elettrica presso l’Università di Pavia. Dopo la laurea ha lavorato in una società di consulenza nel settore dell’efficienza energetica. Successivamente è stata Postdoctoral Fellow presso l’Energy Analysis Group e l’Energy Efficiency Standards Group del Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, a Berkeley (California).

Attualmente è professoressa associata presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica, dell’Informazione e Bioingegneria dell’Università di Pavia, dove svolge attività didattica e di ricerca nei settori della gestione dell’energia, pianificazione energetica, modellazione delle microreti, sistemi di supporto alle decisioni per il dimensionamento delle microgrid e sistemi ad aria compressa ad alta efficienza.
Nel 2024 ha ottenuto l’abilitazione a professoressa ordinaria.

I suoi principali interessi di ricerca riguardano sistemi ottimali di supporto alle decisioni per la progettazione e la gestione di modelli energetici, integrati con convertitori di potenza, con particolare attenzione alle dimensioni ambientali ed economiche. Le sue attività si collocano nell’ambito degli Obiettivi di Sviluppo Sostenibile dell’Agenda 2030, in particolare SDG 7, 11 e 12, e più in generale anche SDG 4 e 5, grazie alle iniziative di divulgazione e outreach.

È stata responsabile di numerosi contratti di ricerca con enti pubblici e privati e ha co-autrice di oltre 80 pubblicazioni scientifiche. È relatrice, chair di sessione e organizzatrice di special session in varie conferenze IEEE. Dal 2017 fa parte del Comitato Organizzatore di IEEE ECCE, dove ha co-coordinato le iniziative WiE (Women in Engineering) ed è stata Publication Chair per ECCE 2021 ed ECCE 2026. Dal 2025 ricoprirà il ruolo di Sustainability Chair.
È IEEE Senior Member dal 2018 e ha ricoperto il ruolo di IEEE-IAS WiE Liaison (2019–2020). Dal 2021 è anche volontaria in IEEE WiE ILC, partecipando ai comitati organizzatori del 2022 e di IEEE IECON 2024 come WiE Co-Chair. È stata invitata come relatrice alle sessioni ONU-CSW65/66/68 a partire dal 2021.

Supervisiona regolarmente studenti di dottorato e laurea magistrale e svolge attività di mentoring per giovani ricercatori. È stata visiting scholar presso: LBNL Berkeley (CA, USA), University of Nottingham (UK), NTNU (Norvegia), Northeastern University (Boston, MA, USA), Naval Postgraduate School (Monterey, CA, USA) e sarà visiting presso il Coimbra Polytechnic (Portogallo) nel prossimo dicembre.
È Associate Editor della rivista IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications.

ENG – Norma Anglani graduated (with Hons.) and got her Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pavia, Italy. After graduating she worked for a consulting company in the energy efficiency area. Later, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Energy Analysis Group and with the Energy Efficiency Standards Group, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, CA. Currently, she is associate professor with the Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Eng., University of Pavia (I), where she teaches and does research in the field of energy management, energy planning, modeling of microgrids, decision support systems for microgrids’ sizing and efficient compressed air systems. In 2024 she obtained the qualification as full professor. Her main research interests deal with optimal decision support systems to design and run energy models, interlinked with power converters to leverage environmental and economic considerations. Her activities span the area of Agenda2030-SDGs 7, 11 and 12 and more broadly also 4 and 5, with her outreach activities. She has been responsible for several research contracts with public and private bodies and co-authored more than 80 scientific papers. She is a regular Speaker, Session Chair and Special Session organizer of several IEEE conferences. Since 2017 she is in the Organizing Committee of IEEE ECCE, co-chairing the WiE (women in engineering) initiatives and as Publication Chairs of ECCE21 and ECCE 2026, too. From 2025 in the new role as Sustainability Chair. She is IEEE Senior member since 2018 and IEEE-IAS WiE Liaison (2019/2020). She started volunteering in IEEE WiE ILC, too, in 2021 and was in the Organizing Committee in 2022 and in IEEE IECON 2024 as WiE co Chair. She has been invited speakers for UNO-CSW65/66/68 since 2021. She regularly supervises PhD and Master students and mentors young researchers. She was visiting scholar at LBNL Berkeley, (CA, USA), Nottingham University (UK), NTNU (Norway), Northeastern University, Boston (Ma, USA), Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey (CA, USA) and in December she will be visiting Coimbra Politecnic (Coimbra, PT). She is Associate Editor of IEEE Transaction on Industry Applications.
